Keeping Your Promises to God

Ecclesiastes 5:4–6 (ESV)
“When you vow a vow to God, do not delay paying it, for He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow. It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay. Let not your mouth lead you into sin, and do not say before the messenger that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry at your voice and destroy the work of your hands?”
You thought you were making a promise to yourself.
But you were really making a promise toGod.
And God takes your words seriously.
So do what you said you’d do.
Those dreams you gave up on?
They weren’t just your dreams — they wereGod’s dreams through you.
This year, for NOvember, stop saying “no” when you’ve already said “yes.”
Believe you can do it.
Try it for 40 days.
If it doesn’t change you, stop.
But if it does —stop stopping.
Reflection:
What promises have you made to God that you’ve let slip?
What dream did you bury that God is still waiting for you to pick back up?
God isn’t angry with you — He’s inviting you to begin again.
He’s not asking for perfection, just consistency.
Say yes again.
Then keep it.
Because every time you keep your promise to God, you build trust with Him — and with yourself.
You’re not starting over. You’re just starting again.
