"Okay Lord,"
Iām sitting outside with my husband, phone in hand, about to type out a prayer. And just as I do, a bee flies right up in my face. I nearly fall out of my chair trying to get away. This bee insists on being in my face. Thankfully, my husband swats it away.
I pause.
Laugh.
Then ask God, āWhat does that mean?ā
And just like that, I hear it:
āJust be.ā
The funny thing? The last person who told me that was my grandma.
Now, I know some people might think Iām crazy for taking a bee encounter so seriously, like Godās trying to speak to me through insects. But I donāt wonder what itās like to be them. I donāt need to. I like how I hear Him.
Because in that moment, that bee said more than most people say all week.
It reminded me: I donāt have todoto be in God's presence. I donāt have to prove anything. I donāt have to compare myself. I can just⦠be.
And yet, here I am praying when I could be straying.
So yeahāI'm winning.
Not in a boastful way. Not better than anyone. Just⦠better than the worst things Iāve done.
Back to the prayer.
We were talking about 40 days in the wilderness.
You said something that stuck:
āJesus wasnāt preaching out there. He wasnāt teaching. He was learning something humanly impossibleāholiness.ā
That hit deep.
That tiny bee reminded me of something bigāhow even Jesus had a season of silence. A time not to speak, but to be.
Stop asking what to do next. God just wants you to be š with Him.
If you have been wondering, what you have to do to be holy, God doesnāt want you to do anything. He wants you to become someone. Thereās no way you can walk with God and not become like Him.
"Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."
ā 2 Timothy 3:5 (KJV)
Holiness isnāt about performance. Itās about power.
Not the kind of power that draws attention, but the kind that sustains obedience when no oneās watching.
The power of God in youāto live not for love, but from love.
"He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love."
ā 1 John 4:8 (KJV)
Godās love? Itās not an excuse. āIām messed up, but God still loves meā⦠It's empowerment to live free from sin.
Godās love is the source of this holy life.
God doesnāt want you to do anything. Stop asking what to do next. He just wants you to be š with Him.
So yeah, maybe God did send that bee.
To interrupt.
To remind.
To approve.
Did it sting me?
Lolānope.
That says Iām good. š
But let me humble myself
āCuz I donāt want to get stung. I may not be all that and a bag of chips, but I am all that God says I am.
